‘Shipbuilding’ Sector for Nepali Workers
According to the government’s plan, when Nepali workers go to work in the ‘shipbuilding’ sector in Korea, they will receive technical training, including salary, for up to the third month from the start. After that, they will be employed regularly.
“This is the first time Nepali workers have started going to the shipbuilding sector in this manner. Some workers who have previously worked in the manufacturing sector might also work in shipbuilding,” says Pushparaj Katuwal, Director of the EPS Branch of the Foreign Employment Department.

“How much is the salary?
Since 2008, Nepal has been sending workers to Korea under the government-to-government understanding through the EPS system.
For this, initially, Nepalis need to participate in the Korean language examination and pass it.
Based on the evaluations, workers who have passed are eligible to go to Korea.
In the EPS system, Koreans themselves are directly involved in the process of selecting workers.
According to the current information, the minimum monthly salary of Nepali workers who have gone through this process is around two lakh rupees, as stated by Director Katuwal.
“The minimum monthly salary is about two lakh rupees for Nepalis, but according to the company, it may be higher than that,” he said.”
